Gwen Hale Keener, 96, of Tulsa passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday, June 22nd. Gwen was born in Tulsa on October 16, 1922 to Virginia Yates Hale and Dennis Hale. She graduated from Central High School in 1940. In 1947 Gwen began working at Amoco where she would retire 37 years to the day in 1984. In 1959 she married Charles Keener and in 1964 gave birth to her only child Eric. In retirement she enjoyed traveling throughout the U.S. and Canada as well as Europe. Gwen was an active church member all her life, first at North Cincinnati Assembly of God and Garnett Assembly, pastored by her dear brother Jerry Hale, where she also taught Sunday School. In her later years she was a member of Woodlake Assembly of God. During her working years Gwen was a member of Desk and Derrick and in retirement the Christian Women's Club of Stonecroft Ministries and the Red Hat Society. Gwen was a real lady and she will be greatly missed.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Jerry Hale, sister-in-law Patsy Hale and cousin Lena Sessions.
Gwen is survived by her son Eric Keener, daughter-in-law Kathy, step-granddaughter Ferrin Collett, nieces Jerrilyn Adams and husband Terry, Susie Monson and husband Bill, Jenny Standlee and husband Larry, Cindy Gagliardi and husband Frank and nephews Mark Hale and wife Helen and Chris Hale and wife Melody.
Viewing will be 9am to 8pm, Thursday, June 27th with family present from 6-8 pm for visitation and Service will be at 10am, Friday, June 28, both at Moore's Southlawn Chapel, 9350 E. 51st St., Tulsa, OK
