Obituary

H. Wayne Kendall was born on December 30, 1933 to Earl and Margaret Kendall. He died on June 5, 2026. Wayne was raised near Ada, Oklahoma and graduated from Vanoss High School. At East Central University in Ada, he received his bachelor's and master's degree in education. Then, he completed advanced studies in counseling and administration at the University of Tulsa.

Wayne married Sammie Kendall, the love of his life, in 1956. After moving to Tulsa two years later, they had two children, Jeff and Kaye Bee Kendall.

Wayne spent his most of his career with Tulsa Public Schools from 1958 to 1992. His first teaching job in Tulsa was at Edison Jr. High School. He later became a counselor and assistant principal at Hamilton Jr. High School. Subsequently for 21 years, Wayne was the principal at three Tulsa Jr. High Schools: Bell, Nimitz, and Cleveland. During this time, he was a member of Will Rogers Rotary Club and served as its president. After Wayne retired, he gardened, traveled, and was very actively involved in the lives of Brooke and Blake Kendall, his grandchildren.

Wayne and Sammie moved from Tulsa to Bixby in 1977. He was active in Bixby United Methodist Church and later Asbury Church in Tulsa.

Wayne is survived by: his wife, Sammie; his son, Jeff Kendall (Kelly); his grandchildren, Brooke Sims (Mitchell), Blake Kendall (Nicole), and Christine Pickard (Zach); and his great-grandchildren, Nora and Natalie Sims. All of them live in the Tulsa Metro area. He is also survived by his sisters Glenda Simpson of Norman, Oklahoma, and Geneva Black of Ada, Oklahoma. Wayne was proceeded in death by his daughter, Kaye Bee Wright of Tulsa, and his parents, Earl and Margaret Kendall of Ada.

Moore's Southlawn Funeral Home will host: a family visitation on Wednesday June 10th from 3:00 - 6:00 pm, and the memorial service on Thursday June 11th at 11:30 am. Burial is at Floral Haven Cemetery in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
