Harry Gene Watt, 90, of Tulsa, passed away Friday, February 12, 2021. He was born along with his twin brother, Harvey, on February 2, 1931 in Pocasset, Oklahoma to Robert and Dora Watt. He graduated from Adair High School in 1949 and married his high school sweetheart Maxine Downs on April 8, 1951. They moved to Tulsa where they made their home and raised their family.
He made a career as a carpenter building many homes in the Bixby and Broken Arrow area. Continuing to utilize those skills into his retirement, it gave him great joy to join a building team as he traveled with Maxine and their fifth wheel trailer throughout the U.S. building churches.
His Christian witness was evident to all he met, wishing all could experience the joy in knowing Christ as he had. He served many years in his church as a deacon, director, teacher and made countless visits to hospitals and homes to comfort and uplift the sick and bereaved. He was known for his kindness, friendly demeanor, and honesty.
He was predeceased by his parents and seven siblings. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Maxine Watt; his son Terry Watt and wife Diane; his daughter Cherrie Hartman and husband Rex; and granddaughters Sarah Brasor and husband Blake of Stillwater and Melanie Ellis and husband Noah of Borger, TX. He has four great-grandchildren: Lily, Elise, Annabeth and Porter.
Harry will be interred at the Dawes Cemetery, Chelsea, OK.
