HEDRICK, Shirley LaVerne passed away July 14th, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. There was no greater love story than that of Shirley and her late-husband, Joe, and the love they had for their family. They were the life of the party and she was Hostess with the Mostess. No matter the time of day or night, her family and friends were always well fed and entertained. Shirley was an amazing gardener and cook and her recipes have been passed on to many. She was an ardent needle-pointer and knitter and the gifts "Mimi" made her loved ones will be cherished forever. She had a truly loving and compassionate heart and a knack for "turning lemons into lemonade regardless of how the cookie crumbled."
Shirley was born in San Angelo, Texas, on January 28th, 1931. She graduated from Central High School in Tulsa and attended the University of Tulsa. She had a dedicated career at Shell Oil Company for 22 years. She was a die-hard fan of the OSU Cowboys and an avid member of the OSU Posse Club. She also served as a Salvation Army Board Member as well as a member of Rotary Anns, Silver Service of Tulsa, Tulsa Garden Club, and the Red Hat Society, to which she enjoyed wearing many of the hats from her abundant collection. She will be immensely missed.
She is survived by: her children, Gerald and Cindy Duck, Mike and Karen Hedrick, Eric and Marla Duck, Jennifer and Mark Radcliffe, Steven Duck, and Melissa and John Levoff; her grandchildren, Casey, Grant, Chris, Bryan, Jake, Tyler, Erica, Brentton, Porscha, Brittany, Seth, Sarah, Robert, Spring, Ethan, Ashley, Carley, Haley, and Bruce; her 11 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jackie Joe Hedrick, her father, Henry Clay Sawyer, and her mother, Opal LaVerne Pennington Sawyer.
There will be a viewing at Rosewood Chapel on Wednesday, July 18th from 5 to 7p.m. The service will be held at First United Methodist Church on Thursday, July 19th, at 10:30a.m.
