Helen Wilcox Canfield was born 94 years ago on June 7, 1924 in Lookeba, Oklahoma to Clare and Verla Heuston. She has one sister, June Ates, who is 91 and still living in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Helen married Ed Wilcox in 1944 and enjoyed 51 years with him as they raised their three children and shared a life filled with family and friends, service to their church and community, travel, gardening , and time spent together. Helen was an excellent cook and homemaker and excelled at knitting and shared her talent with many. She was a people person and was active in her PEO chapter. She loved music and was often heard singing beautifully around the house. Ed was a CPA and CFO of Tyler-Dawson Supply in Tulsa. He passed away in 1995.
Helen married Ray Canfield in 1996 and started a new chapter in her life that involved their move to Montereau in 2005. They were very active at Montereau and enjoyed their friends and activities very much. Ray passed away in 2017. Even as Helen progressed from Independent Living to the Villa, the Abbey, and eventually the Chateau, her life was enriched by the loving and caring staff who continued to touch her life every day. She will be missed.
She is survived by her three children: Don Wilcox and wife Diane of Dallas, Tx, Kathy Mixon and husband Bob of Idabel, OK, and Sue Davis of McKinney, Tx. Five grandchildren: Jennifer Coulter and husband Chris of Kingwood, Tx, Dana Ayres and husband Brad of Dallas, Tx, Jeff Mixon and wife Christy of Fort Worth, Tx, Deren Wilcox and wife Laura of Dallas,Tx, and Chad
Anderson and wife Claire of North Richland Hills, Tx. Eight great-grandchildren: Natalie and JP Wilcox, Chloe and Luke Coulter, Sophie and Olivia Mixon, and Kendall and Nolan Anderson.
She is also survived by two stepsons: Dennis Canfield and wife Peggy and Stan Canfield and wife Kathy, five step-grandchildren, and a niece and nephew.
She is preceded in death by her husband Ed Wilcox, her husband Ray Canfield, son-in-law Bob Davis and stepdaughter Claudia Canfield.
