Helen Louise Frymire, 85, passed away Monday, May 25th, 2015 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was born February 16th, 1930, in Bomarton, Texas to John Edwin Brown and Faye (Chambless) Brown. Helen was raised on the Brown Ranch, south of Bomarton, with her four sisters and one brother. As the eldest daughter, her mother Faye depended upon her for help. Helen graduated valedictorian of her high school class in 1947. She then attended Texas Tech University where she earned a B.S. degree in Speech.
Helen began a career teaching school in Tulia and Sterling City, Texas. While teaching in Sterling City she met James Robert (Bob) Frymire. They married on May 21st, 1955, at the Brown Ranch in Bomarton, Texas. After living one year in Abilene, Texas, they moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma where they raised three sons.
Helen was a dedicated, loving wife and mother. She and Bob enjoyed family vacations and the Tulsa Philharmonic. She was an avid reader who enjoyed studying the Bible as well as art, history, and literature. Her love of geography was reflected by the many maps and atlases in the house. She adored giraffes. Her admiration of their beauty and grace was displayed throughout her home.
In addition to her dedicated family life, she was a devoted member of Asbury United Methodist Church for over 40 years where she directed the Mother's Day Out program and taught preschool for many years. She also volunteered her time tutoring underprivileged children. Many times over the years during family dinners at restaurants, former preschool parents or students would recognize "Miss Helen" and approach the table to express their fondness and appreciation. Throughout her life she kept very close ties to her brother and four sisters and they enjoyed many good times together.
She was preceded in death by her husband Bob, father Edwin, mother Faye, and brother Edwin Tracy Brown. She is survived by her three sons, Charles Edwin Frymire and wife Millie, James Philip Frymire, and Robert Michael Frymire; grandchildren Melissa Pechulis and husband Dan, and Michelle Amber Frymire; sisters Margaret Brown Halsey, Carolyn Warterfield, Bobbie Loving, Melanie Gooch, and sister-in-law Ada Brown; one niece and four nephews.
