Herbert Atkins Britt

Herb Britt went to join our heavenly Father on Friday October 25, 2013. He was preceded in death by Virginia Mae Britt, his wife of 59 years. He leaves behind Sons David and Joseph Britt, Daughters Jennifer Spencer and Barbara Hover, Daughter-in-Law Sue Britt and Son-in-Law R.W. Spencer, 10 Grandchildren, 9 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great-Great Grandchild.
Herb was born March 21, 1929 in the Hulbert, Oklahoma area. He is a decorated veteran of foreign wars who proudly served his country in the Armed Forces Air Force at the end of WWII and the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. After his service, Herb attended college at Talequah?s Northeastern State University where he met and married his wife. Herb has always been a respected member of the Tulsa Community. He ultimately took early retirement from American Airlines and enjoyed many happy years traveling and exploring new places in their R.V.
Herb managed and operated the #1 and #10 Git N Go Stores in Oklahoma. He was well-known for locally run businesses in Tulsa such as Britt?s Champlin, Britt?s Kerr-McGee and Britt?s U-Haul and Hitch World. Herb?s hobbies included hiking, treasure hunting and mining.
Private Grave Side Memorial Services for Herb and Jenny Britt will be held at Ft. Gibson Military Cemetery. Please contact the family directly for details.
