Herbert Allen Johnson, Jr. (Allen) passed away April 10, 2017 at the age of 81. He was independent until the end and his passing was unexpected and quiet.
He was born in Lawton, Oklahoma on March 1, 1936 to Herbert and Virginia Johnson.
He attended Lawton High School and obtained a Bachelor of Science in Geological Engineering from the University of Oklahoma in 1959. He was a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity.
After graduation he joined his father in the operation of the family business, La Sill Ice Cream. Upon his father's death in 1964 Allen assumed management of La Sill's, in partnership with his sister, Joie Kilpatrick, and mother.
He married Judy K. Matthews in 1961 who, even after their separation, remained one of his best friends.
He obtained his Juris Doctorate Degree in 1977 and thereafter practiced law in Lawton for 30 years. He moved to Tulsa in 2013 to be closer to family.
He could talk as long as you want about Oklahoma sports and his many life experiences with friends. Allen loved his family, especially those grand kids. You will never know anyone who cherished friendships more than Allen. He enjoyed his daily walks with Bella (his dog), his weekly lunches with friends in Lawton, and his annual trip to Texas to join a group of fraternity brothers for the Super Bowl.
He is survived by Judy Johnson, son, Blake A. Johnson and wife, Mayte Rodriguez Johnson, granddaughter, Kevyn K. Johnson, grandson, Mitchell S. Johnson, niece, Lee Ann Kilpatrick Rogers, and cousin, Nicholas Garrett.
