Obituary

WITT, Hershal, 72, went home to be with the Lord at his Tulsa home after enduring an extended illness. Hershal had a deep faith and faced his illness with dignity and grace. For almost eight years he was bedfast. The last two years, he was unable to move his legs, limited use of left arm or feed himself. If you would ask him how he was doing, he would say "I'm doing fine", but always concerned about how you were doing.

Hershal was born in Depew, OK to Earl and Mabel Witt on September 17, 1943. He served in the Army National Guard. He was a salesman for Taylor Paper Company and a member of the United Methodist Church of Bixby. He enjoyed the game of golf and working in his rose garden. He loved working with leather and played basketball till he wasn't able. He then enjoyed watching all the golf tournaments, college football and basketball. His favorite teams being OU, OSU, and the Oklahoma City Thunder. He looked forward to the weekly Emmaus meetings by conference telephone calls with a special group of men. They have been meeting together for 28 years.

If you had asked Hershal to pray for you, he prayed for you every day faithfully. Last count, he had a total of 60 people on his prayer list. Hershal always would say, "God has a solution to every situation in life". His favorite saying was, "Keep the faith". One of his favorite passages from a book was, "In our attitude of gratitude to the Lord Jesus Christ we can have great peace, because our past is forgotten, our present is blessed and our future is assured".

The last two years he had compassionate care from Transitions Hospice and also from two very special caregivers for which the family is forever grateful.

Hershal is survived by his loving and caring wife, Frances; brother, Donald of Okmulgee; two sisters, Barbara and Marietta of Depew. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Ron.
