Obituary

Homer McGrady "Grady" Fox died Thursday, June 27, 2013. Grady was born April 15, 1920 in Batesville, Arkansas to Homer William Fox and Alta Mae (Baker) Fox. After graduating from Batesville High School in 1937, Fox received a degree in Mathematics at Hendrix College, Conway, Arkansas. He did his graduate work in engineering and thermodynamics at Georgia Tech, University of Illinois, Oklahoma State University and Harvard.



Grady served in the U. S. Navy from 1942-1946 as an Engineering Officer on LST 463, Fifth Fleet, Southwest Pacific Theater during WWII. He taught Diesel Engineering at North Carolina State and taught Algebra and Calculus at the Naval Academy, Annapolis. He continued to serve in the Naval Reserve until 1970 when he retired with the rank of Commander.



In 1946, Fox moved to Bartlesville, Oklahoma to work with Phillips Petroleum Company in Research and Development. His focus included automobile, jet and rocket fuels, lubricants and chemicals. He contributed to several technical publications acquired 67 U.S. patents, and several foreign patents. He retired in 1984 after 38 years.



Grady married Doris Mae Snow in July of 1948. They made their home in Bartlesville and became very active in the First United Methodist Church where he taught Sunday school for over 5O years and served as a youth counselor with Doris. Other community activities included school volunteer, Kiwanis member, Boy Scout Commissioner, and an announcer for Splash Club. In 2004, Grady and Doris moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma and joined the New Haven United Methodist Church where they remained active.



Preceded by his wife, Doris; parents. Grady is survived by daughter, Lisa Fox; son Ken Fox and wife Paula Fox; four grandchildren, Clinton Fox, Lindsay Fox, Danny Coe and Phil Coe; and eight great-grandchildren.



Graveside service will be 8:30 A.M., Monday, July 1, 2013 at Memorial Park Cemetery~Bartlesville. A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 A.M., at New Haven United Methodist Church,~Tulsa. Moore?s Southlawn 663-2233 share memories at www.moorefuneral.com
