Imogene Johnson Hunter
Imogene was born June 27, 1940 to Eddie Lee Johnson and Nora Lee Johnson in Horatio, Ark. She graduated from Locksberg High School and moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma. She met and married Sylvester Hunter Sr. in 1962. To this union four sons were born.
She was employed at Shell Oil Co for 22 years and First Data Resources, Dillard's Department store, retired and went to work for Saint Simenon's for sixteen years, serving the needs of the elderly and spreading the joy, compassion, advice, and the smile that was hers alone to share. (Mama Gene). She was a long-time member of Saint Monica's Catholic Church and a member and past local regent of the Catholic Daughters of America, dedication and consistent servitude to the Lord. Jean loved and lived for her boys, she extended her Love above and beyond for family and friends alike. On her journey through life she had two special friends, Idella Miller and Isabelle Phillips. Imogene is survived by her sons: Phillip L., Sr. (Sharon), John E. (Lakesha) and Timothy L.; brother: Eddie Lee Johnson, Jr. (Francis); eight grandchildren: Phillip L. Hunter Jr., Kevin N. Hunter, Tekeshia S. Hunter, Cessnie Jean Hunter, Cierra C. Hunter, John Trey Hunter, Jade Francis Hunter, Timeya Hunter and fourteen great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, brother, Charles Johnson, and son Sylvester L. Hunter, Jr.
On July 4, 2018, while surrounded by family, she went to her heavenly home.
Viewing will be 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 10th and 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Wednesday July 11th at Moore's Memory Chapel 1403 S. Peoria Ave., Tulsa, Oklahoma 74120.
Rosary will be 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 11th at St. Monica Catholic Church 633 E. Marshall Pl., Tulsa, Oklahoma 74106.
Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 12th also at St. Monica Catholic Church.
