Imogene Holloway Stilwell went home to be with the Lord on Monday, May 1, 2017 at the age of 101 years and 8 months in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was born in Lyons, Oklahoma to William Lafayette and Julia Lucinda McLemore Holloway. Imogene graduated from Sequoyah Indian School, Tahlequah, Oklahoma in 1934. She entered the three-year diploma program for nursing at Morningside Hospital (now Hillcrest), Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1935 and graduated from the registered nursing program in 1938.
Imogene loved the Lord our God and raised her family to lead a Christian life. She walked and talked with the Lord continually throughout the day. She attended Sunday School and Church services at Woodlake Assembly of God in Tulsa until she no longer could physically. After retirement, she continued to be active by volunteering her time at Kendall-Whittier Elementary School, RSVP, being involved with the Retired Policemen Luncheon Monthly Meetings, the Hillcrest Surgical Nurses' Luncheon Meetings, and organizing family reunions from both sides of the family. Imogene was a kind and loving person who cared deeply for her family and many friends.
Imogene was preceded in death by her parents, William L. and J. Lucinda Holloway; her husband of 48 years, Melvin T. Stilwell; her daughter, Marilyn S. Berry; two brothers, George Holloway and Barney Holloway; three sisters, Chris Howe, Virginia Bulger and Dorothy Broussard; and son-in-law, Paul H. Petersen. She is survived by her daughter, Betty L. Stilwell; adopted grandson, Mike Rogers and wife, Heather, and great-grandchildren, Cadence, Canaan, and Kiersten Rogers; two sisters, Modena Holloway and Vera Kerr; and one brother, Kenneth Holloway. She also leaves behind numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and friends.
Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 P.M., Monday, May 8, 2017, in the Sanctuary at Woodlake Assembly of God, 7100 E. 31st Street, Tulsa, Oklahoma with a Lunch Reception preceding the Service in the Fellowship Hall at 11:30 A.M..
