Mother was a strong believer in Jesus Christ and in life everlasting. She and Dad were members
of Asbury Methodist Church for 5O years plus. Unknowingly their 1st visit occurred as Asbury
opened its' doors at Key Elementary. While able, Mom and Dad were involved in the
"Friendship Sunday School Class". Mom and Dad enjoyed their involvement at Asbury over the
years.
Mom and Dad enjoyed many hobbies. OU football was high on the list. Both were graduates
of OU and they were at each home game and attended several away games and bowl games.
While watching games in the early 70's, you would find one game on the T V and another game
on the radio. Bad calls by the referees was known by all watching. And above all, do not be
talking small talk. You would get a look and a Shhhhhh.
Secondly, bridge was very important to both Mom and Dad. Mom was an avid player up till
only a few years ago. At Town Village, she hated to play for quarters because she hated taking
their quarters at the end of the day.
Mom was an avid gardener. She loved flowers. She had African Violets that were beautiful.
Mom also had her yard looking really nice with her different flowers. Later on she had a
Christmas cactus. It was so / so huge. It was the talk of Town Village. She would clip off pieces
and gave many cuttings to her grandchildren as well as other residents.
Traveling was also enjoyed/loved by Mom and Dad. They traveled early on and camped out
with their pop up camper. Then they traveled in their VW van. They went on several hostel
trips and saw many places and met new friends. On one of their trips, they ran into Bill and
Jayne Mason in Egypt. Mom was able to continue traveling and one of her last out of town
trips was to Dallas just a few years ago.
All through her life the newspaper was something she read thoroughly. She wanted to know
what day it was and she was up to date on events going on. Mom was 99 years old plus when
she died, but let it be known that she always / always had good one liners and would keep you
smiling. She had a "fire in her belly" and a twinkle in her eyes. She had the mind of a 40 year
old. She was independent and was a very kind person. She loved her family and they loved her
back.
To close, we had an awesome "99th" birthday party for her and all that could come came and
the laughter and the enjoyment we got from this day will keep Mom in our hearts forever.
Mom, you are loved by all: What a wonderful Mom, Mother in Law, Grandmother and Great
Grandmother you were! You will surely be missed and we will see you soon Mom.
As a family, we would like for all to know how appreciative we were of the care that she
received while at St. Francis Hospital and the great and awesome care she received at
Oklahoma Methodist Manor.
