Isabella F. Guthrie, 92, died peacefully in her home in Tulsa at 4:33 am on Tuesday, May 7th.
A resident of Tulsa since 2008, and prior to that Lawrence Kansas, she was the widow of Miner Dow Guthrie. She was born in Springfield, Missouri October 6, 1926 to Ernest and Blanche Lower. She raised her family of four children as a single parent in Springfield and had a career in the life insurance industry for over twenty years as an underwriter. In 1983 she married Miner Guthrie and they enjoyed 25 years of marriage.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Miner Guthrie; a brother, Raymond Lee Lower; a son Preston B. Polly; and a grandson Bradley E. Polly.
A faithful servant of the Lord, she held many roles in the Presbyterian church and was one of the first female Deacon and Elder of the church and was recognized as Presbyterian Women's Outstanding Woman of the Year. Her life was one of service to others including the Business and Professional Women's Organization, American Cancer Society, and volunteer at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
She is survived by two sons Gregory E. Polly of Austin, TX and Gordon R. (Colene) Polly of Tulsa, OK; and two daughters Pam Guthrie of Eudora, KS and Sharman K. (Joe) Palos of Richardson, TX, eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at Kirk of the Hills in Tulsa on Friday May 10th at 1:00 pm in the Chapel. A brief reception to follow. Burial will be in Lawrence, Kansas at Oak Hill Cemetery on Saturday May 11th at 2:00 pm.
The family gives thanks to the Lord for her beautiful spirit, her strength, and her steady hand in guiding us through each day of our lives and being right at our side throughout all the years.
