Jack S. Compton, of Tulsa, OK, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 26, 2016, at Clarehouse, at the age of 89. He was born on January 2, 1927, in Dallas, Texas, and raised in Elk City, Sayre, Clinton, and Tulsa, Oklahoma. He attended Central High School in Tulsa, graduating in 1945, and served in the Army Air Corps for 18 months before attending Oklahoma State University (Oklahoma A&M.) An active member of the SAE fraternity, Jack graduated in 1951 with a B.S. in Geology. In September, 1951 he married his sweetheart, Pat Sittel, and together they raised three girls, Janice, Karen, and Nancy.

Jack worked as a geologist and landman in the oil industry for Carter, Kewanee, and ENI Oil, and rose through the ranks to Vice-President of Exploration for Kewanee and ENI, before he retired in 1982. He served as an officer of the Tulsa and Wichita Associations of Petroleum Landmen, The Petroleum Club, and was an active member of the IOPA, the AAPL, The Tulsa Men's Club, and the Oaks Country Club.

He was an avid sportsman, fisherman, golfer, and enjoyed all his favorite activities, including travel, with the love of his life, Pat, and as many children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren as he could include. He loved to bargain hunt, play Gin Rummy, grill on the patio, and spend time with his many close friends. He was a good man and a wonderful father.
