Jack Dan Davis was born January 7, 1944, to Judge Davis and Dorothy (Johnson) Duffy in Plymouth, MI. Jack flew to the arms of Jesus on Sunday, February 17, 2019, in Tulsa, OK. He has an older brother, Jerry Davis, Rogers, AR; half-sister, Susan (Bruce) Parker, Elm Springs, AR; and step-brother, Brian (Wendy) Smith, Tewkesbury, England.
When Jack was in middle school, his mother and step-father, Maitland Duffy, transferred from Plymouth, MI, to Rogers, AR, with Daisy Manufacturing in 1958. Jack lived part of his high school years with his father, Judge, and step-mother, Liza, in Obion, TN. Jack graduated from Rogers High School in 1962 and earned an associates degree from the University of Arkansas.
Jack completed USMC basic training in 1962 at Camp Lejeune, NC. He served in the USMC reserves and Army reserves from 1963 to 1982. He served full-time active duty during "Operation New Life" a vietnamese refugee resettlement effort in 1975 at Fort Chaffee, AR. He recalled serving as mess sergeant during the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962 and serving a large group of soldiers outdoors with helicopters taking off and landing and trying to keep debris out of the food.
In 1963, Jack married Donna Sommerville. They had one daughter, Sabre (John) Mendoza.
Jack married Susan (Wilson) Davis on December 28, 1985, in Bentonville, AR. They had one son, Justin Davis.
Jack loved Jesus with all his heart and all people. He was kind, hospitable, and generous with his time and finances. He volunteered in churches in the Tulsa Metro area and at the Tulsa Metro Baptist Network office. He loved repairing and updating old computers and giving them to kids at church who needed one. Jack was his daughter's softball coach in her Jr. High years. He was his son's t-ball coach with Josh Markham, his assistant coach. He especially loved serving at The Church at BattleCreek in the kids ministry theater assisting Marla Taylor.
As a true "Jack of All Trades," there was almost nothing Jack couldn't do. He climbed and installed tall radio towers, owned an appliance store and earned his GE Tech Certification, worked in inside and outside sales of every type of equipment or grocery item immanginable. He sold so much catfish for an Oklahoma catfish farm, they couldn't keep up with production. He flew airplanes, taught himself to play guitar and piano by ear, and loved to sing during worship at church. He was able to maintain the electronics and appliances in his home on his own for many years.
Jack was preceded in death by his mother and father. He is survived by his wife, Susan, of the home; his children, Sabre (John) Mendoza, and Justin Davis; his granddaughters, Hope and Jewel Davis; his brothers and sister; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
