Jack Read passed peacefully in Tulsa on June 11, 2016 at the age of 68. Loved ones welcoming him home were his loving parents William (Bill) and Eunice (Rodgers) Read, along with his brother Dennis Read, sister Debra (Read) Torzsas, and brother-in-law Jim Torzsas.
Loved ones that will miss him are his three daughters Marti Read, Jenny (Read) Fraser, Amy (Read) Solomon, sons-in-law Ross Fraser and Steve Solomon; grand babies Maggie Mae Leach, Spencer Solomon, Holly and Jack Fraser; brother and sister-in-law Mike and Darla Read, nephews Todd, Zach and Jonathan Read, niece Carmen Blanke; and best buddies Gary Crane and Bill Cecil.
Jack graduated from East Central High School in 1966. He went on to proudly serve and retire from the United States Marine Corps, and was a Purple Heart recipient for injuries sustained in the Vietnam War. Jack will be fondly remembered as a gentle, loving father. His grandchildren, no doubt, became the people he loved the most. He was loyal, quick to be funny, and passed along to his children his "no-excuse" approach to life.
Celebration of his life is being held Wednesday, June 15th, 10:00 am at the Crosstown Church of Christ, 3400 East Admiral Pl, Tulsa, Oklahoma.
In lieu of cards and flowers, please make donations in Jack Read's name to The Coffee Bunker. This is a place for veterans, service members, and family members to find connection, honor, support, resources and renewal.
