Jack "Bonge" Runnels, 49, of Tulsa, OK, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, October 19, 1977. He died at St. Francis Hospital, Tulsa, OK. He was born on Thursday, October 18, 1928, in Shawnee, OK, to Kelvy Vincent Runnels and Reda Armenta (Bonge) Runnels. Jack was proud to have served in the 5th Infantry "Red Diamonds" a/k/a the "Red Devils," in the United States Army, in World War II, and also served in the Korean Conflict.
Jack was a member of Community Baptist Church, and was a Fire Equipment Operator/Driver for Engine No. 7, at 6th Street and Lewis Avenue. He also served several times as a representative on the City of Tulsa Fire Department Personnel Committee.
Jack is survived by his wife, Antonie "Toni" (Peters) Runnels, of the home; daughter, Carolyn, of the home; son, Kim, of the home; brother, K. V. "Sonny" Runnels of Tulsa, OK; 2 sisters, Mrs. Mary Lou Freeman of Lancaster, TX, and Mrs. Betty Goad and husband, Harold, of Tulsa, OK; and a lifetime of friends.
