Jack Winston Tubb, 92, of Tulsa, OK, passed from this life on Wednesday, October 26th, 2016.
Jack was born in Guthrie, OK on June 15th, 1924. He went to school at Guthrie High where he played saxophone under the tutelage of Jimmy Saide. During high school, Jack put together a dance band, playing dances in all the nearby towns. He served in the Army in World War Il as a gunnery Sergeant, stationed at Fort Sill, OK. When the war ended, he attended his beloved Oklahoma A&M (OSU) where he served as President of his chapter of Pi Kappa Alpha. There he met and married Reba J. Estes in Tulsa, OK August 16th, 1947.
Jack left college to pursue a career in Advertising. Though his beginnings were humble he rose to a Vice Presidency in one of the top Ad agencies in OK. Later he started his own agency and continued in the field for nearly 70 years. He joined the Press Club and participated in "Gridiron", a roast of important yearly news stories with music. Later he joined Rotary International where he found an opportunity to sing. Jack and Reba traveled all over the continent with the 100 voice chorus and loved the experience. He also served as a President with the Tulsa United Way for a year as well as President of the local Camp Fire Girls organization. He loved fishing the wonderful streams, lakes and rivers of Oklahoma. His greatest contribution was as father, grandfather, husband and son. He will be greatly missed by all.
Jack is preceded in death by his parents, James W. Tubb and Alberta (Brown) Tubb; his brother Colonel Don Tubb; his loving wife Reba (Estes) Tubb; and grand-daughter Rachel Cowart. Jack is survived by his children, Craig Tubb and wife Marilyn, as well as Susan (Tubb) Cowart and husband Robert. Other survivors include his brothers, Dr. Richard Tubb and wife, Farl and Dr. Dan Tubb and wife, Cecelia, and sister-in-law, Joyce Tubb. Grandchildren are Julie (Tubb) Musser and husband Mark, Jarrett Tubb and wife Shannon, Jaclyn (Tubb) and husband Michael Brito, Ian Cowart, Erin (Cowart) Haines and husband Ryan, Elizabeth (Cowart) Meffert and husband, Ein. Great-grandchildren are Matthew and Macy Musser, Madison and Scarlett Tubb, and Violet Haines.
Visitation will be 2-4 P.M., Sunday, October 30, 2016 at Moore's Southlawn, 9350 E. 51st, Tulsa, OK. Interment will be at 10:00 A.M. Memorial Park Cemetery, Garden of the Prophets.
