Obituary

Jack S. Vaniman, loving Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather, passed away on August 16, 2022 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was born on June 27, 1925 in Champaign, Illinois.

Jack received his Bachelor's Degree in Journalism and Advertising, from the University of Illinois, Class of 1949, and was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. He was a World War II Veteran - U.S Army 123d Infantry, earning the Combat Infantry Badge. For thirty years, Jack worked for Schnadig Corporation in Chicago, IL (Furniture Mfg.) retiring from the sales Manager position prior to moving to South Carolina. Jack, with his wife Nancy, owned and operated The Village Toy Shop in Winnetka, IL from 1971 to 1985.

Jack was a longtime resident of Winnetka, Illinois, Salem, South Carolina and Tulsa, Oklahoma.

He was an avid Tennis player and fan...he played till he was 85. He also played on his college Tennis team and won several tournaments at Keowee Key, South Carolina. He enjoyed playing golf until he learned to water ski (which he did into his 60s). Jack also enjoyed camping with his family, carpentry and collecting die cast cars, lead soldiers and electric trains. Jack was also an Eagle Scout.

He will be remembered by his friends and family in all the places he has lived for his smile, his continuous positive attitude, and incredible friendly demeanor.

Jack was preceded in death by wife Nancy (Ziegler). He is survived by his three children: Peggy; San Antonio, Texas; Mark (Susan); Hotchkiss, Colorado and Vicki (Chris Bendel) Tulsa, Oklahoma: Grandchildren: Jaime, Justin, Matt, Megan, Kaylin, Ryan, Daniel: Great Grandchildren: Quintin, Ares, Maysen, Jack, Harry, Violet and Gus.
