On June 13th, Jacquetta Ernestine McCraw slipped away home to rejoin her late husband, and happily stand in the presence of the Lord. Born on October 24th, 1930 to Richard and Letha Driggers in Lawton, Oklahoma, she met her future husband there when her Sunday school teacher said she knew the "perfect boy" for her which was - of course - her son, newly returned from WW II service in the Navy. Jacque and Bob married in a small ceremony on November 24th 1949. Convincing her husband he was bound for better things, she was his rock of support as he conquered engineering school at Oklahoma A & M - now known as OSU.
Wife, mother, sister, daughter, scientist, friend, artist - all are roles she inhabited with zeal and sensitivity. She worked for two decades as a microbiologist for St. Francis Medical Center after graduating from the University of Tulsa, starting at the university when her youngest child entered kindergarten and eventually earning a masters degree, all while raising three children and supporting her husband's career as an engineer.
She had an artistic temperament, and enjoyed painting, ceramics and gardening, as well as making a home that was warm and welcoming. An inveterate animal lover, she felt birds to be one of God's finest creations and took great pleasure in her bird feeders, particularly in winter.
Jacque enjoyed a second life in her final year and a half at Town Village in Tulsa, where she was adored by so many of the residents and staff. She bloomed amid new friends and experiences, and will be missed by many, many people living and working there.
Jacque is survived by her children, Teresa Garner and Kevin McCraw; their spouses, Philip Garner and Karla Ungerman; grandchildren Jeremy, Michael, Christopher and Elissa, and seven great-grandchildren (her husband Bob and eldest son, Dr. Gordon McCraw, predeceased her). She is also survived by her brother Richard and her beloved sister-in-law Joy May, as well as her favorite niece Sandi Beth.
Services are scheduled at 2:00 Wednesday, June 18, at Memorial Baptist Church, 2800 S. Yale, in Tulsa. Moore's Southlawn 918-663-2233 share memories at
