James Beattie, lovingly known as "Jim," was born on March 15, 1941, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Laurence Beattie and Thelma (Farr) Beattie. He passed away on October 8, 2026, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 85.
Jim graduated from Rogers High School in Tulsa. In his youth, he was involved in Boy Scouts, developing a spirit of service that remained with him throughout his life. He was an Army veteran who proudly served his country.
Jim owned and operated Beattie Plumbing until his retirement in 2007. Through years of hard work and dedication, he built a successful business and provided for his family. He was also involved with the Masonic lodges Akdar 555, Daylight, and Tulsa 71.
Jim was a Christian who believed in sharing the love of God with others. His faith was an important part of his life and shaped the way he treated those around him. He was a hardworking and selfless man who would do anything for anyone, and his family meant everything to him.
Jim married his beloved wife, Debbie, on June 25, 2005, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Together, they shared a life filled with love and treasured memories.
In his free time, Jim enjoyed woodworking, fishing, and traveling by ship. Alaska held a special place in his heart and was his favorite destination. He also enjoyed driving children to Shriners Hospitals, giving his time to support a cause that was meaningful to him.
Jim will be remembered for his strong work ethic, deep faith, generous heart, and devotion to his family. He was always willing to lend a hand when someone needed him, and his kindness left a lasting impression on those who knew him. His presence will be greatly missed, but the memories he created and the love he shared will remain with those who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Laurence Beattie and Thelma (Farr) Beattie, and his brother, Stephen Beattie.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife, Debbie Beattie; his children, James Scott Beattie Jr. and his wife, Susan, and William E. Beattie; his stepchildren, Heather and her husband, Patrick, Russ and his wife, Kristin, and Richard and his wife, Angelique; his grandchildren, Ruthy, Lukas, Zachary and his wife, Josie, Bethany Bennett, and Tyler; his great-grandson, Christopher; and his sister, Ann Faye Rose, along with numerous other family members and loved ones.
A service honoring Jim's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 16, 2026, at Moore Southlawn Chapel, with interment to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends and family may visit the funeral home on Thursday, October 15, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., with family present.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Jim's honor to Love to the Rescue at Shriners Children's.
Jim's life was defined by faith, hard work, and devotion to those he loved. His legacy will live on through his family and the many lives he touched.
