James D. Ryan, 85, entered his heavenly home, Sunday, July 22, 2018, in Tulsa, OK. He was born November 18, 1932, to Wiley Robinson and Margaret Effa Ryan, in Dewar, OK. James was Supervisor of Security and Maintenance at Skelly/Getty/Texaco. He was a member of Lynn Lane Baptist church, where he was a Sunday School teacher. James coached Little League baseball, played rhythm guitar and banjo, and enjoyed playing in the Texaco Troubadour's Band. He was a member of the Tulsa Police Department K-9 Auxiliary Unit, and loved trading guns and knives.
James is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary Ruth Ryan; daughters, Jimmie Ruth Thompson and husband, David of Oklahoma City, OK and Janet Lee Meissinger of Tulsa, OK; brother, Bobby Ryan and wife, Joyce; sisters; LaWanda Guess, Hazel Adams, and Gwen "Butch" Moore and husband, Jim; three grandchildren; Michelle Askins and husband, Michael, Eli Robertson and wife, Valorie, and Michael James Meissinger and wife, Cassie; five great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and their families; his church family; and a lifetime of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
James will be greatly missed in the days ahead, but his spirit and memories will live on within each of us because we were privileged to have him in our lives.
