James passed away on Sunday, May 16, 2021 at Clarehouse, Tulsa, OK after a long battle with cancer.
James, age 89, was born September 5, 1931 in Bixby, Tulsa County, Oklahoma to Claude Evertt and Myrtle Lilly Mose.
He graduated from Cleveland High School, Cleveland, Oklahoma in 1949.
James, married Leatrice Joye Langley on March 5, 1950 in Cleveland, Oklahoma. James and Joye celebrated 67 years of marriage.
He spent many years as a supervisor for Best Fertilizer and Occidental Chemical Company in Plainview, Texas. He achieved the title of Assistant Production Superintendent at the Plainview, Texas facility.
Returning home to Oklahoma in 1989, James retired in August 1998 with Energy Exchanger Company, Tulsa, OK. He prided himself as the first recipient of the first retirement watch issued by Energy Exchanger.
James was a passionate crappie fisherman and always referred to himself as the "King of Crappie Fishing" on Lake Hudson near Salina, OK.
James and his wife, Joye, made many fond memories with their children, and
grandchildren at their Lake Hudson property, commonly referred to by the family as "Old D'S Place".
James, a good father and devoted husband, was preceded in passing by his loving wife Joye, son-in-law Ray Nicholau, sisters: Helen Devin Conley and Dorothy Jean Devin and brothers: Orma Claude and Charles Devin; parents Claude and Myrtle.
He is survived by his 4 children, three daughters: Renee and husband Steve King of Broken Arrow, OK, Gay Nicholau of Rapid City, SD, Janie and husband Russell Durfee of Tulsa, OK; one son: Lyndan and wife Mary of Roswell, NM; a sister, Doris and husband, Clarence Evans; six grandchildren, Neva, Misty, Travis, Tasha, T.J. and Meagan; and ten great-grandchildren; sixteen nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be 4PM - 8PM, Thursday, May 20, 2021 at Moore's Southlawn Chapel, 9350 East 51st Street, Tulsa, Oklahoma. Graveside service will be 10AM, Friday, May 21, 2021 at Floral Haven Cemetery, 6500 South 129th East Ave, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
