James Burdette Grant was born in Charleston, WV on July 7, 1929, to Albert Edward and Winifred Shirley Ryder Grant. Jim was raised in Clarksburg, WV, where he graduated from Adamston Grade School and Victory High School.
Following graduation, Jim was employed by Four Co. as a glass cutter and in 1948 was transferred to Henryetta, OK to work for Pittsburg Plate Glass.
On June 11, 1950, he was married to Glenda Rollins in Clarksburg. To this union three children were born and reared in Henryetta: Jo Ann, Janet and Steve. Jim and Glenda moved to Tulsa in June, 1974, where he was employed by other glass companies. In retirement, they both worked part-time for their church, Fellowship Bible Church. A highlight for them was traveling to Belgium, where they assembled Bibles for missionaries. They also enjoyed their twelve visits to Maui, Hawaii. Glenda preceded Jim in death on June 23, 1999.
On February 24, 2001, Jim was united in marriage with Margaret M. Vilven (a widow) in Tulsa. Together they shared a mutual interest in their church, dancing and traveling. They went on multiple cruises to the East, West and South Caribbean Seas, the Mediterranean, South America, the Hawaiian Islands, the Panama Canal, Columbia, Costa Rica and three trips to the Mexican Riviera. Air/land trips enjoyed were to Northern Italy and to Switzerland, including the Alps in France and Italy.
Jim and Marg were active members of Asbury United Methodist Church, Tulsa. They attended the 8:00 am Sunday service and were members of the Mariner's Community where Jim served as a quarterly class president. They both served as 1st and 2nd Sunday greeters for the 11:00 am service. Previously they also served as wedding assistants for three years. They also enjoyed going on coach trips with the Asbury Senior Adults.
Jim was preceded in death by his brothers, Paul Francis and Albert Edward Grant, III, and his son-in-law Jon Craig. He is survived by his wife, Marg, and his children, Jo Ann Craig, Janet Grant and Steve (Pam) Grant, four grandchildren, Amanda Craig Yoselow, Rebecca Craig Collier, Tim Allred, and Jeff Thomas, two great-grandchildren, Jack Brian Thomas and Owen Isaac Yoselow, two step-grandchildren, Wade Ballenger and Amy Ballenger, a sister, Mary Reider, of Clarksburg, WV, seven nephews, one niece, and many great-nephews and nieces.
Moore's Southlawn is in charge, where family/friend visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 (Phone: 918-663-2233).
Graveside services will be at Calvary Cemetery at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, December 17, 2020, at 91st and Harvard, where Jim will be laid to rest next to Glenda.
