Obituary

James Douglas Green was born in Tulsa, OK on October 18, 1933 to Cornelia Kathryn Allen and Marion Floyd Green. He passed from this earth on August 9, 2017 at his home of almost 50 years in Tulsa, OK. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Richard Marion, Allen Floyd, and Joseph Stanley. He is survived by his sister Nancy Jane Skinner, spouse Hart. They reside in Bella Vista, Arkansas.

James Douglas Green married Betty Jo Albright on September 7th, 1957. They have 4 children Dr. James Douglas Green Jr. , wife Kelley, David Stanley Green, wife Stacy, Karen Elizabeth Hooser, spouse Colvin, and Rachel Beth Bausili, spouse Ben. They have 11 grandchildren- Doug and Kelley's children are Jonathan Allen, Andrew Christopher, and Matthew Douglas. David and Stacy's son is Fletcher Grady. He is married to Chancey. They have a daughter, Riley Alexandra. She is Dr. and Mrs. Green's first great- granddaughter. Karen and Colvin's children are Galen Arthur and Lauren Emily. Rachel and Ben's children are Judah Benjamin, Leo Joseph, Elena River, Elijah Malik Henry, and Skye Lucia.

James Douglas Green graduated from University of Oklahoma Medical School in 1957. "Dr. Jim" practiced medicine in Tulsa, OK for 43 years and globally through his many medical mission trips. After retirement, he continued to serve with trips to the Ukraine, Nigeria, Honduras, and Belize as well as in local free medical clinics in Tulsa. His last mission trip was with Gathering Hearts for Honduras in April 2017.

Dr. Green was a faithful member of Christ Presbyterian Church for the last 23 years. He loved the word of God, studied it regularly, and taught many times of the countless ways of God's love. He truly loved the Lord.

An Army veteran, Jim was drafted on Christmas Eve 1965 into the Army Medical Corp. Major James Douglas Green served for 2 years at Sandia Base in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was a member of the American Society of Angiology, a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, and received the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine Medallion Society for 50 Years award. He was featured in a local news report as the "Doctor who prays with his patients," and also appeared on the 700 Club as one of his patients became well thru the power of prayer.

Dr. Green's ministry also included creating poems and paintings for those who were hurting or needed encouragement. His heartfelt poems went out to hundreds of people with Godly messages on life, trials, joys, and death. These poems are and have been treasured by those lucky enough to receive them. His love of art also included the opera and playing the organ and dulcimer.

Most of all, Dr. Green enjoyed being with his family. Throughout the years they made precious memories at places like the Hemlock Inn. Standing and looking at the Smoky Mountains, especially at sunset, would provide inspiration for many of his poems. He truly enjoyed God's creation.

Dr. James Douglas Green's visitation will be at Moore Funeral Home 9350 East 51st Street, Tulsa, OK on Friday August 11th, 2017 6:00-8:00 PM. The funeral will be held on Saturday August 12th at 12:30 PM located at Christ Presbyterian Church 2706 East 51st Street, Tulsa, OK. The interment will immediately follow at Memorial Park Cemetery at 5111 S. Memorial Dr. Tulsa, OK.
