James Leslie Hamilton, 76 of Eucha, OK passed away Friday, March 14, 2014. He was born January 27, 1938 in Okeen, OK to Scottie Martin and Ruby Irene Hamilton. James worked for American Airlines for 29 years. He carved a beautiful homestead out of his 115 acre wilderness in Northeastern Oklahoma. His many improvements to the property included multiple ponds, walking trails and vegetable gardens, supporting an abundant wild life sanctuary which he passionately documented with thousands of photographs. He was a skilled woodworker, furnishing his home by utilizing native trees from the property. He also created cherished hope chests for each of his granddaughters. His love for the outdoors and especially bass fishing led him to become a respected member of the Tulsa Bass Club, fishing in numerous tournaments during his lifetime, consistently finishing near the top of the standings. He is survived by his wife Maxine Hamilton, children Nancy Jane Andrew, James Ray Hamilton, Edward Lee Hamilton, step sons Tim James and Sam James, grandchildren Jamie, Chris, Jimmy, Ashley, Christine, Candice, Kayla, Thomas, Matthew, Alex and Chelsea, step grandchildren Bethany, Jessica, Clint, Kennedy and McKinney, 7 great grandchildren, 2 step great grandchildren, brothers Gary Hamilton and Scottie Hamilton. Preceded in death by 1 brother and 1 sister. Memorial contributions may be made to "Hospice" or Good Shepherd Hospice.
