James Ray Isley, 74, of Sand Springs passed away on October 19, 2025 in Tulsa. He was born November 3, 1950 in Tulsa to R.J. and Harriette Isley.
Jim graduated from Charles Page High School in 1969. His higher education was at NEO and Oklahoma State University where he met Charlene Martin, the love of his life. In 1972 they married and celebrated their 53rd anniversary in January. After a successful career in controls and instrumentation he retired from Baker Petrolite.
Jim was also involved in fraternal organizations. He was a past Exalted Ruler of the Tulsa Elks Lodge and he was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason and a past Worshipful Master of the Sand Springs Masonic Lodge, where he developed many lifelong friends.
Jim and Charlene loved to travel the world and went to many incredible destinations over the years. They loved spending summers at their lake house on Grand making wonderful memories with family and friends. A special treat was their annual Hot Springs trip to the horse races. One of Jim's favorite pastimes was playing cards every Wednesday for over 40 years with his fellow poker buddies. He was so proud that in 2018 he accomplished his lifetime goal and won a seat at the World Series of poker in Las Vegas. Jim was also proud of his Indian heritage. He was a great storyteller and instilled that legacy with his kids, grandkids and anyone else who would listen. He loved baseball from a young age while playing little league to his later years coaching his kids at T-Ball and was a devoted St. Louis Cardinals fan. Another passion was flying and building airplanes with his son.
Jim is survived by his wife Charlene, daughter Jamie (Virgil) Hunter, son Jason (Mariah) Isley, mother, sister Juanita (Tom) Roberts, grandchildren Tsinia, Kayli, James, Jonathan, Jace, and numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, sister Janice Seacat, and brothers Stephen and Scott Isley.
Visitation will be 5-7pm, Thursday, October 23, 2025 at Moore Southlawn, 9350 E. 51st, Tulsa, OK. Funeral Service will be 10:00 A.M., Friday, October 24, 2025 at Moore Southlawn Chapel. Moore Southlawn 918-663-2233
