James M. Kent, Jr "Jim" was called home to our Lord on March 8, 2023. His legacy will be carried on by his loving wife of 50 years, Jan, his daughter, Julie, and his four grandchildren that were the light of his life and called him "PaPa".
Jim was born on July 10,1946 in Dallas, Texas to Dr. James M. Kent, Sr. and Florence Beatrice Stamps Kent. He grew up the oldest of four children and loved pranking his younger siblings and friends in the neighborhood. When he was not in trouble for telling jokes at school he excelled as an athlete, boy scout, student and friend.
He had a zest for life and lived it to the fullest with a passion few could match. If you were with him you could count on hearing his signature laugh and great stories. He was proud of becoming the youngest Eagle Scout at that time and that is where his love of the outdoors was born. No matter the season, or his age, you could find Jim with his two brothers and a host of lifelong friends hunting or fishing. Jim was a loyal fan of "My Texas Rangers" and cheered them on whether they were ranked first or last! Not only did Jim fiercely love his own two children, he was known as a father figure to many other young men in the community- many of which he was in contact with just days before his passing. He was always wanting to "make memories" and he has left us with so many that we will cherish forever.
Jim is survived by his wife, Jan Kent; daughter, Julie Ferraro; grandchildren, Jayde Ferraro, Zoe Ferraro, Chandler Ferraro and Mia Ferraro; Brothers, Dr. Robert C. Kent (Danna), William R. Kent (Marilyn); Sister, Suzanne Torkildsen (Bill); Sister-in-Law, Kay Frazier (George); Brother in Law, Stan Wood; and 10 nieces and nephews. He is reunited with his parents, Dr. James M. Kent, Sr. and Florence Stamps Kent; son, James M. Kent III; nephew, Robert C. Kent, Jr.; and his Mother-in-Law, Betty Jo Wood.
Jim will be remembered by his generous spirit, robust laugh, contagious smile and his love for his family.
