James Brenton LaCourse of Tulsa died Monday, October 14th, 2019 after a long, three-year battle with cancer; he was 72 years old. James was born in Enid, OK in 1947 to Brien R. LaCourse and Betty LaCourse-Manning.
James is survived by his daughter, Stephanie Campbell and husband Mark Campbell; son, John LaCourse; sister, Cindy Posey and her husband, Hal Posey; brother, Roderick B. LaCourse and his wife, Stacey LaCourse; sister-in-law, Janice Reid and her husband George Reid; nephew, Kevin Reid and wife Sindy Reid; and grandchildren, Austin Topor of Texas and Kennedy Moran of Texas. He would tell you his favorite child of all was his beloved dog, Buddy.
James is preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Vondal LaCourse, twin son, Scott LaCourse, as well as his parents.
James, mostly known as Jim, was in the Air Force Reserves and was a 32nd degree Mason. He had a black belt in Muay Tai, loved to work with wood, and could build or fix anything you gave him; however, he would tell you that if he could be doing anything at all, he would be fishing with his best friend, Bill Cook.
Jim retired after 30 years from the City of Tulsa. He was an organized hoarder and felt you could never have just 1 or 2 of anything because, "you never know when you will need it". Over the years, he taught his children the value of hard work and that things in life are not just given. Jim was a strong-minded man who would no doubt say whatever was on his mind; however, he also had an amazing heart and cared greatly for his friends and family; he also had a great sense of humor and was quick witted.
Jim will be missed by all that knew and loved him.
