James Alexander Lovett was born May 22, 1920 in Devol, Oklahoma to Elmer Lawrence and Nancy White Lovett, the second of seven children, and departed this life May 7, 2015 in Claremore, Oklahoma at the age of 94.
He graduated from Northside High School, Ft. Smith, Arkansas, in 1940.
He enlisted in the Army in 1942 and served in the Medical Corps until his honorable discharge as a Tech Sergeant at Fort Lewis, Washington, in January 1946.
He married Virginia (Ginny) Phelps December 23, 1942 in Ft. Smith, and they lived there for almost forty years. His wife was an elementary school teacher, and he owned Lovett Typewriter Company at the time of their retirement to Cookson, Oklahoma in May, 1984.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia, of the home; three daughters, Shirley Hill of Weatherford, Texas, Barbara McNally of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Kathleen Otwell of Conroe, Texas; seven grandchildren, Randall Parent, Richard Parent, Tammy Parent Deegear, Leon McNally, Renee Zaferes, Daniel Otwell and Crystal Vacek; seventeen great-grandchildren; a brother, Elmer Lovett and a sister, Ellen Fitzgerald; a host of friends and loved ones.
Visitation 6-8 P.M., Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at Moore's Southlawn, 9350 E. 51st, Tulsa, OK. Service will be 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at Moore's Southlawn Chapel with a graveside following at 12 Noon, at Ft. Gibson National Cemetery, Ft. Gibson, OK. Moore's Southlawn 918-663-2233.
