Obituary

James Robert Malowney, Jr. died in Tulsa on August 18, 2015. He was born July 25, 1922 in Sidney, NE, son of Ida Mae and James Robert Malowney. He grew up in Kearney, NE, graduating high school at 16. He served in the Navy during World War II. Jim graduated from University of Nebraska then married Elizabeth Louise Hopkins in Lincoln, NE in 1948. He worked for Liberty Mutual Insurance in Grand Rapids, MI. He became Liberty Mutual's claims manager in Tulsa in 1960.

Jim was a 72-year member of the Elks Lodge. He belonged to the Oklahoma Cornhuskers Club and was past president of Tulsa Claim Association. He was an avid golfer and bridge player. He belonged to Boston Avenue Methodist Church and the Sons of the American Revolution.

Surviving him are daughter Laurel Lemarie and husband Kent; son Scott Malowney, MD and wife Soraya; grandchildren Leslie Lemarie, Andrew Malowney, Michelle Lemarie Crowley and husband Sean; great-granddaughter Cara Claire Crowley; step-grandson Landon Hardin and wife Melinda; step-great-grandchildren Tyler and Ashtyn Hardin.

Jim and his wife will be interred at Miramar National Cemetery, San Diego. Donations may be made in his name to Tulsa Elks Lodge.

A memorial will be held Saturday, August 29, 2015, 2:00-4:00 P.M. at Tulsa Elks Lodge.
