James S. Marshall Jr, 79, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away on Friday April 9, 2021. He was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and graduated from Peabody High School. He married Rita Diane Clark and shortly thereafter began his service in the U.S. Army. While serving in Vietnam he was awarded the Bronze Star.
After completing his military service he returned to Pittsburgh with his young family where he began working at Mellon Bank. At the same time he attended Robert Morris University and the University of Pittsburgh. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Accounting in 1975 and his Masters of Business Administration in Accounting in Finance in 1980. He also attended the Herbert V. Prochnow Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin in 1984.
Jim and his family moved to Tulsa in 1982 where he worked for the Bank of Oklahoma, first as Senior Vice President and controller, and then as Executive Vice President. He ended his career at the Bank of Oklahoma Mortgage Corp. and retired in 2004.
Jim was a beloved husband, father (Doodsy), grandfather (Pop Pop), great-grandfather (M&M Monster, Pop Pop), family member and friend. He loved to travel with his wife Rita. They were snowbirds to Florida for many years and always looked forward to their annual trips to Las Vegas. Jim enjoyed collecting sports memorabilia and coins. He also liked doing jigsaw and sudoku puzzles. Most of all Jim loved being with his family. He loved sitting at the kitchen table with Rita watching the birds and squirrels in their backyard.
He is preceded in death by his parents James and Roberta Marshall, sisters Nancy Deep and Darlene Goodman, and brothers Michael and Joseph Marshall.
He is survived by the love of his life of 58 years Rita Diane; son James S. Marshall (Jim) and wife Pam, of Broken Arrow; daughter Diane D. Marshall of Broken Arrow; grandsons James J. Marshall (Jimmy) and wife Candace of Broken Arrow, Stephen Marshall of Broken Arrow, grandson by marriage Nicholas Moellman and wife Nicole of Rock Hill, South Carolina; great-grandchildren Kaylie G Marshall and James N. Marshall (Little Jimmy) of Broken Arrow and Laurel Moellman of Rock Hill, South Carolina; sister Rebecca Marshall of Pennsylvania; brothers Robert Marshall, Matthew Marshall and Douglas Marshall all of New Castle Pennsylvania.
The service will be held on Wednesday, April 14, at 2:00 P.M. at The Ridge, 7401 S. 209 E. Ave, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma 74014. With burial at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation on Tuesday, April 13 at Moore Southlawn Chapel, 9350 E 51 St., Tulsa, Oklahoma 74145.
