James Wright McClain, 68, resident of Tulsa, OK, and Corporate Vice President of Dillard Department Stores, died Wednesday, January14, 1976, at St. Francis Hospital, Tulsa, OK. He was born on Monday, November 4, 1907, in Chicago, ILL, to Dr. Talmadge Bright McClain and Margaret B. (Wright) McClain.
Mr. McClain operated various businesses from 1940-52 in Nashville, AR. He came to Tulsa from Texarkana, AR, in 1960, and joined Dillard, in 1951, as a Controller. At his death, he was also a Director of the department store chain and Vice President of Dillard Investment Co.
Mr. McClain was a 32nd degree Mason and a Methodist. Crippled with polio since childhood, he was active as a benefactor of the Shriners Hospitals for Crippled Children, where friends are making memorial contributions.
He is survived by his widow, Bernice J. McClain, of the home; daughter, Mrs. Carolyn Sue Auffert of Biloxi, MI; two granddaughters, Jennifer and Jacqueline Auffert; mother, Mrs. Margaret McClain of Downers Grove, IL; brother, Robert McClain of San Marcus, CA; three sisters, Mrs. A. W. Blake of St. Charles, IL, Mrs. Gerald Ryan of Chicago, IL, and Mrs. Andy Baier of Downers Grove, IL.
