James Michael Shelby was born on September 5, 1952 to Ben and Mary Ann Shelby at St. John's Hospital in Tulsa, OK. He died on August 21, 2022 in San Bernardino, California.

He is survived by his brother Ben and wife Pat; nieces Shelley Shelby, Christina Shelby and Kaitlin Preston; nephew Mark Shelby and grandnephew Emmett Preston and grandniece Emery Preston. He is predeceased by his parents Ben and Mary Ann Shelby

Jimmy attended school at Verdigris and Claremore graduating from Claremore High School in 1970. He attended Oklahoma State University where he studied radio broadcasting.

After leaving OSU he worked as a long haul trucker for Franks and Sons, Spurlock trucking and other firms for 40 years retiring in 2012. His nickname as a trucker was "Gypsy".
He lived in the big stone house at the corner Rt 66 and Fisher Rd in Claremore for his adult life.
In 2013 he relocated to Apple Valley California to live with his brother.

A dedicated sports watcher, he loved the NBA, NASCAR, MLB, NFL and all Oklahoma college team sports. Jimmy will be greatly missed.
