James Scott Swindler, age 86, died peacefully in his sleep of cancer on October 24th, 2017 at his home in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Jimmie was born in Muskogee, OK to Herbert Lee and Marian Elizabeth (Williams) Swindler on November 11th, 1930. Jimmie met Nancy Mae Conley at West Junior High in Muskogee; they were married on July 15th, 1948. They had been married for 65 years when Nancy passed away in 2013. Jimmie and Nancy are survived by their three daughters Dorothy Swindler, Vickie Sanborn and Shirley Bennett; grandchildren Marsha Spencer, Allen Sanborn, Sara Bennett, and Robbie Bennett; and four great-grandchildren.
Jimmie joined the army at 15 years old and served in occupied Korea. After discharge from the army, he completed his high school education and went to work as a roughneck for the family business, Swindler Oil Corp. Jimmie completed his bachelor's degree in geology at the University of Tulsa in May of 1954 and went on to work in the oil business for the next 35 years. Jimmie is best known to the Tulsa community by his tireless and generous support of Habitat for Humanity. He was constant and steadfast in his support for those he loved, while exemplifying humility and a complete lack of pretension.
