Obituary

James W. Johnson, 88, went to his heavenly home on June 21st, 2015 after a long battle with MDS. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God kept him strong throughout his life.
Jim was born to Wells and Elizabeth Johnson in Batson, TX on January 23, 1927. He served in World War Two and was part of the Texas National Guard. He met his beautiful wife while attending Abilene Christian University and later attended the University of Tulsa.

Jim retired from Texaco in 1982 after 27 years of service and retired from Sinclair in 1998 after 15 years of service. Jim helped found the Oklahoma chapter of the National Hemophilia Foundation in the 1960s and later served as its president. Jim later served with the Full Gospel Businessman on its Tulsa Board of Directors. Jim loved to serve by teaching and ushering in his local churches, Sheridan Christian Center, Victory Christian Center and Rhema Bible Church.

Jim was blessed with a loving family. He married his best friend and soulmate, Ruth Johnson, on November 24th, 1950 in Abilene, TX. Jim and Ruth raised their three children Jim, Anita, and David with patience, discipline, humility, and a lot of humor. He was an avid sportsman and taught his children and grandchildren to hunt and fish. From the very beginning, he dedicated his children to God and encouraged them in their Christian walk and to love all of Gods' children.
Jim or Papa was the patriarch and firm foundation by which his family stood. Their constant guide and counselor. He set the precedence for hard work, was slow to speak and slow to anger. His fortitude has served as "good strong glue" for his family. A true example of the greatest generation.

Jim is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ruth; his daughter and son in-law Anita and Joe Koval; his daughter in-laws Melissa Johnson and Becky Johnson; his precious grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Andrea, Bryan, Noah, Annabelle and Cooper Orlowski, Jordan Koval, Kristin Koval, Ashley and Daniel Hay, Davis Johnson and many other beloved family and friends. He will be greeted in heaven by his sons, Jim and David; his parents; and his brother and sister Justin and Irma and good ole' friend Mike.

Jim will be buried at Tulsa's Memorial Park Cemetery. The service time is 10:00 A.M. on Friday, June 26th at Moore Funeral Home - Southlawn Chapel in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Pastor Kenneth Hagin, Jr. will officiate the service. Moore's Southlawn 918-663-2233 share memories at www.moorefuneral.com
