Janet Renee Cripe went home to be with Jesus, August 15, 2024. She leaves behind
her husband, Syd, daughter, Katie, son-in-law, Brian, her parents, Bill
and Pat Melton, sister, Brandi Melton, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. She belonged to Jenks Methodist Church.
Janet graduated from Jenks High School in 1989. She studied Master of Arts in English
(Rhetoric and Composition) at Northeastern State University, and also studied Secondary English Education at Northeastern State University.
Janet taught at Metro Christian Academy for 26 years and at Eufaula for 3 years. She
retired in May 2024. On her last day she posted on Facebook, "Here it is. The last day with students. This group of Juniors was a great group, not gonna lie, I'm a bit emotional right now, I loved interacting with students, even the squirrelly ones could make me smile."
Before retiring, Janet was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in May of 2023. As the true
warrior she is, Janet rang the bell in May of 2024 celebrating being cancer free.
Janet and Syd planned many travels and adventures together. Janet loved hiking,
reading, teaching, traveling, spending time at the family farm, her family and friends, and Jesus.
