Janet Liebrock Holderness, age 88. went home to be with her Savior and Lord Jesus Christ on March 18, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. at her home in Montereau Retirement Community.
Janet was born on June 14, 1934 in Oak Park, IL to Harry Franklin and Ruby Bennett Liebrock. She grew up in Hinsdale, IL where she first met her husband-to-be, Alan, in 7th grade. She and Alan graduated in 1952 from Hinsdale High School, where she had been Homecoming Queen. Jan went on to graduate from the University of Colorado in 1956 where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. She then went on to Northwestern Business School in Chicago.
Jan and Alan were married in Sept 1957 while he was in Medical School. They moved to Akron, OH in 1960 for Alan's Orthopedic Residency training, following which he entered private practice until 1981 when they moved to Tulsa to join the City of Faith Medical Staff. The most important event in Jan's life occurred when she and Alan were introduced to Jesus Christ and believed on HIM to be their Savior and Lord through witness of two Campus Crusade pastors at Gracehaven Farm in Mansfield, Ohio in 1970. The Lord dramatically and forever changed her entire family. Janet and Alan, along with their children, Stuart, Karen and Anne, received Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior and began their walk with the Lord as a family, which was Janet's greatest joy.
Janet was known by everyone as the lady with the most endearing smile, always caring and cheerful. It was often said, "Jan loves everyone"; all were welcomed, accepted, valued, and usually hugged. She was also gifted musically, with the ability to play the piano by ear (playing anything she heard). It was common to find her playing the piano anywhere friends were gathered. She faithfully assisted Alan in teaching Sunday school Classes and Bible Studies for over 50 years; including the one still ongoing at Montereau. Right up until the end of her life, she continued to play piano and love people.
She is survived by her husband Alan; her children Stuart Holderness, Karen Winters (Harry), and Anne Frease (Jim) and by her grandchildren: Joshua, Ashley, Zachary and Heather Holderness; Anne and Lauren Winters; and Johnathan Frease. She was preceded in death by her parents: Harry and Ruby Liebrock and her sister Nancy Horn. The family wishes to thank the Complete OK Hospice and the Montereau staff for their excellent care of Janet in these last few weeks.
