Obituary

Janet R Wehrenberg passed peacefully on July 27, 2023 at the age of 91 surrounded by her loving family.

Janet was born on February 9, 1932 in Fort Wayne, Indiana to Dr Noah and Olive Rockey. She was born with a sense of style and social grace that continued throughout her life. She met her late husband, Dave Wehrenberg, while attending a dance at the Bledsoe Dance Pavilion on Lake James. At the time, Dave was attending college and Janet, a mere 16 years old, was in the throes of an exciting and social high school experience at North Side High School. During her junior and senior years, she was a print model for a local department store, always in tailored, classic attire. After graduating, Janet attended Indiana University and joined Alpha Omega Sorority but not for long. She married Dave on November 25, 1950 in Ft Wayne. They were devoted to each other and shared a wonderful life filled with love and family for almost 72 years. They moved to Tulsa in 1959 where Janet created a wonderful life for her family. She was in the antique business for 18 years with two of her closest friends. For decades, she belonged to her beloved Wednesday Bible Study group, Antique Study Club and PEO. For over fifty years, she was an active and loyal member of Asbury Church. In her later years, she became an avid bridge player. Her entertaining talents were legendary, she was generous to a fault and had a multitude of good friends whom she loved. She will live on in her children, grandchildren, great grandsons and soon to be born first great granddaughter. She was a beautiful and gracious soul.

Janet is survived by her children (Diane Wehrenberg, Karen Wackenhuth (Mike) and David Wehrenberg (Ellen); her grandchildren (Katie Dawson (Danny), Christy Tanusaputra (Joshua), Evan Marlow (Lisa) and Lyric Simmons); her precious great grandchildren (Henry and Bennett Dawson, and Judah Tanusaputra). A service to celebrate Janet's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on August 11 at Asbury Church, 6767 S Mingo Road, Tulsa. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Janet's name can be made to Asbury Church or your favorite charity.
