Obituary

Jazmen Aryes Shaw was born August 26th, 1997 to Krystal Shaw and Jamal Ali. From the very beginning she was a joy to them both, full of energy, with a love for life. She was adventurous, independent and enthusiastic with a fearless spirit. Jazmen accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at The Park Church of Christ, where she continued to be a member. She tried sports and played basketball during her younger years, but later realized and admitted she was not an athlete. She enjoyed high school, but found her passion for education after graduating from Broken Arrow High School in 2015. Jazmen developed a thirst for learning and focused on her education continuing her studies at Oklahoma State University majoring in Psychology. It was her dream to one day get her PhD. Jazmen was well on her way and was scheduled to graduate from college in May 2019 with her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology.

Jazmen was always her father's baby girl and they shared a special connection that surpasses even death. She also shared her mom's "gift for gab" and because of this she has never met a stranger. Family was everything to her and she always prioritized spending time with hers. Like most little girls, Jazmen liked to get her way and her father often insured that she did. Jazmen dreamed of doing something big, becoming a success, being remembered for making her mark in the world. While in college she promoted concerts and volunteered with various organizations. Unfortunately, Jazmen's life was cut far too short. However, because of her wonderful spirit that welcomed everyone in, her selflessness in giving of herself to help others and her kindness that will forever be remembered we take today to celebrate her beautiful life. To all who knew her she was and will always be GREAT, one of the best people we were all blessed to have in our lives.

Jazmen Aryes Shaw was called home suddenly after a fatal car accident on February 5th, 2019 at the young age of 21 years old. Nothing could have prepared her family for this tragic loss. Jazmen is survived by her mother, Krystal Shaw; her father, Jamal Ali (Ruth); siblings, Derrec Shaw, Yaunikia Joseph, Nathan Samuel, Lindsey Samuel, Chance Samuel and Allie Samuel; maternal grandparents, Vicki and Charles Shaw; paternal grandparents, Jamal and Maryam Ali, all of Broken Arrow, OK. Uncles, KIarriem Ali and Ameer Ali; aunts, Tamara Green, Sonya Thomas, Shadia Ali, Bayyinah Jackson, Sarah Shaw, Carissa Shaw and Alison Shaw. Jazmen was also blessed with a large extended family including many great aunts and uncles, cousins and even friends who are left to celebrate her life and mourn her loss, of whom loved her dearly. Jazmen shared a special bond with Akin and Cathy Olaniyan who generously supported her and helped to make her dream of attending college a reality. Jazmen was kindhearted and humble. She was a beautiful person inside and out, who brought joy and love to her family and friends. We will always remember the light she brought to our lives.
