Jean McGregor Seifried passed away peacefully June 8, 2016 in Tulsa, OK. Born to Robert and Elsie McGregor, Chicago, May 24, 1914. Graduated Maine Twp. High School 1932. Married William John Seifried (Bill) May 14, 1938. Park Ridge, IL.
Jean worked as a secretary but quit to keep house for her widowed father, brothers and husband during WWII. Jean and Bill built their own home in Park Ridge in 1950. They retired to St Germain, WI in 1972. Jean was active in the Big St Germain Lake Association, the town board, snowmobile club, bridge club, and a founding member of the Prime Timers, a senior social club. She was passionate about the need for low income senior housing and was appointed to a feasibility study committee. In 1983, the St Germain Housing Authority was created. Jean oversaw the building of three senior apartment buildings and served as secretary until 2002. She was also Site Manager for the Commission on Aging senior meals, volunteered at the Plum Lake Library, and co-chaired the financial/secretary duties at Community United Church of Christ. She moved to Tulsa in 2004 to be near family.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Bill, her son Michael, and brothers Robert McGregor and John (Jack) McGregor. She is survived by her son, Thomas William and wife Lil, grand-daughter Erica Jean, grand-son William Kurt and wife Kristin, and four great grandchildren.
The Memorial Service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, June 17, 2016 at Asbury United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the St Germain Housing Authority, c/o Francine Byrns, 8048 Kadonte Trail, St Germain, WI 54558.
