Obituary

Jeanette Pauline ("Nettie") Hutchison

Jeanette Pauline Hutchison of Norman, Oklahoma passed away peacefully in her sleep in the early morning sunshine to be with her Lord on January 13, 2023. She was 91 years old. The only daughter of five children, she was born August 10, 1931 in Ellinwood, Kansas to Rev. Robert F. and Grace A. Richter. She married Marion F. Hutchison of Fort Madison, Iowa on June 9, 1957 and they moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma, where she raised two sons, Marion F. Hutchison II, now of Norman, Oklahoma, and Jack R. Hutchison of Tulsa. She lost her husband to cancer in 1981 and continued to reside in Tulsa until 2013, at which time she moved to Norman to be closer to her grandson Matthew Hutchison.

Jeanette was a graduate of Ellinwood High School and Adela Hale Business School in Hutchinson, Kansas, and she worked as a bank teller at People's State Bank in Ellinwood prior to her marriage. After moving to Tulsa, she dedicated her time to homemaking and raising her children. After her husband's death, she assumed ownership and managed Marhut Sales Company, and later worked in sales for Diamond Jim's Pawn Shop and Szor-Deiner Fur Salon until she retired.

During her years in Tulsa, she was also involved in community service, and she volunteered time to the Tulsa County Library and Meals on Wheels, as well as serving as a Board Member of her church. Her hobbies and past times included playing the piano, painting, ceramics, reading and playing cards with her friends. Following her move to Norman, she enjoyed gardening, bird watching and OU football. But more than anything, she loved spending time with her grandson, with whom she had a special bond.

Jeanette grew up in and was surrounded by a family of faith. In addition to her father, two of her brothers were also members of the clergy. Christianity was an important part of her life, and she was a longtime member of Fellowship Congregational Church in Tulsa.

She will be missed by everyone who knew her and remembered for her love of family and friends, pride in her two sons, selfless caring for others, appreciation of nature, beautiful smile, witty humor, frequent silliness, and the special little things she did to make those she knew feel special.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and brothers Rev. Robert F. Richter, Jr., Donald L. Richter, Rev. Jean Paul Richter (her twin) and Phillip R. Richter. She is survived by her two sons, daughter-in-law Anne Hutchison of Norman, her grandson and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of her life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 19, 2023 at Fellowship Congregational Church, 2900 S. Harvard Avenue in Tulsa. A burial service will follow at Memorial Park. Moore's Southlawn 918-663-2233 share memories at www.moorefuneral.com
