Jeanette Rose Bayha Serviss was born July 6, 1940 in Rocky Ford, Colorado. Her parents were Earnest and Lillian Bayha, who have preceded her in death. She grew up wanting to be a school teacher and so attended and graduated University of Southern Colorado in Pueblo, Colorado, Class of 1977. Upon graduation Jeanette taught Social Studies and English at Wray Middle School in Wray, Colorado from 1978-1980. Next, she taught 1st grade at Penrose Elementary in Penrose, Colorado from 1981-1989.

In 1990 she moved to Oklahoma and taught 1st grade at Vandever Elementary in Broken Arrow until 2007; the year she retired. Her fellow teachers at Vandever Elementary voted her 'Teacher of the Year' in 2000. She left this world on December 10, 2015 at 5:25 p.m. in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

She is survived by 3 children: Melody (Mike) Laney of Broken Arrow, OK, Mark (Julie) Serviss of Arad, Romania, and Joy (Brad) Holliday of Verdigris, OK. She has 5 grandchildren: April (Ted) Jordan, Stacy (Gary) Shreve, Matthew (Melania) Serviss, Justin Serviss and Caleb Johnston. Jeanette also has 7 great-grandchildren; Ted Jr., Jacob and Clark Jordan, and Lilly, Mason, Eli and newborn Laney Rose Shreve, who was named after Jeanette.
