Jeffrey Cline passed away on February 7, 2019.
Born December 15, 1947 in Portage, Wisconsin to Clarence "Pat" and Ruth Cline, Jeff lived every day to the fullest. Jeff was a proud Michigan State alum, graduating with a PhD in geochemistry in 1977. His work as an environmental scientist and his desire for adventure took him to 33 countries and countless mountaintops. In 1989 he married the love of his life, Nancy, and became a dedicated stepfather to her two children, Jamie Ariana and Megan Bland.
With Nancy, Jeff loved to host gatherings and was known for in-depth conversation and respect for diverse opinions. Time spent with family was particularly important to him, and he made beautiful memories baking, camping, creating and imagining with his 4 grandchildren: Audrey, Lucas, Sloane and Ethan.
With his faith and the loving care of those close to him, particularly Nancy, Jeff beat the odds by surviving a 2007 leukemia diagnosis and years of subsequent health challenges. He continued to surprise all who knew him by returning to his adventurous life of hiking, biking, golfing, fishing and international travel. Never idle, Jeff loved to garden and became a passionate bee keeper in recent years, producing delicious honey with his dedication to his hives. He finished a book entitled "Open Your Eyes to Joy" days before his passing.
Jeff enjoyed volunteering with his church, the Sons of the American Revolution, and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. In lieu of flowers, donations to LLS would be a great way to honor Jeff. Donate online at
