Celebrating the Life of Jenelle Perigo
January 11, 1927-March 19, 2020
Jenelle Perigo was born to Jesse and Nelle Duvall in Wagoner, Oklahoma, on January 11, 1927. Her name was derived from the combination of Jesse and Nelle. She left this terrestrial globe and entered the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in that celestial city on March 19, 2020. She was 93. She was the youngest of four sisters. Her dad farmed and worked at the Sunray DX Refinery in Tulsa, OK. Her mother taught two of the sisters to do the domestic chores, while her dad taught Jenelle and an older sister to work the fields.
Jenelle graduated from Webster High School at age 17 and moved to Houston during WWII where she labored to help refurbish military jeeps thereby contributing to the war effort. After returning to Tulsa, she worked at Peacock's Jewelers and met Waldo Perigo, a WWII Army Air Corps veteran. They were married July 20, 1951.
Jenelle served her family as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother (affectionately known as GGJ), briefly working as a pediatric nurse's aide at Saint Francis Hospital to help pay for children's college expenses. She was her husband's right-arm, enjoyed spending time with her family, and crocheting. She made multitudes of afghans, clothing, toys, and hot pads. She also enjoyed caring for birds, the culinary arts, gardening, Face-booking, and dancing. Jenelle and her husband were charter members of Southern Hills Methodist Church but, of late, she was an eager supporter of a grandson who is a Baptist evangelist.
Jenelle was hospitable and generous. She was preceded in death by her parents, her three sisters, a grandson, a daughter, and her husband of almost 57 years. She is survived by a step-son, son, and two daughters, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.
