Obituary

Jeri Marche' Whitworth was born February 1, 1948. She passed peacefully on April 5, 2025 at the age of 77.

Marche' was born in Lufkin, TX to Ben and Laura (Pusley/Grimes) Huffman. She grew up in Oklahoma with her mother, Laura, and stepfather, Dee Shaw.

After receiving her bachelor's degree in journalism, she married Loyd Whitworth. They made their home in Tahlequah and had two daughters, Eyreka and Erin.

Marche' was a gifted journalist and author. While she never realized her dream of writing for the National Geographic, she received numerous awards for her writing for the Tulsalite Magazine as well as several newspapers.

She had a passion for writing that showed up in her poetry and especially in the cards and letters she sent to those who needed encouragement from God's word. She signed with "TAP" standing for The Anointed Pen. As one who had dealt with much heartache, she had a gift for reaching the down and out, sharing the love, grace, and forgiveness she had received from her Lord and Savior with them.

Marche' carried her badge as a "60s Hippy" with pride, no matter how we family and friends shook our heads and rolled our eyes. She was independent, stubborn, and often described herself as a "tough old Indian" holding true to her Choctaw and German blood. No one could disagree as her quirkiness showed through in every aspect of her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ben Huffman, Laura Shaw, and Dee Shaw, husband, Loyd Whitworth, daughter, Eyreka Nyree Whitworth, and brother, Gary Shaw.

She is survived by her daughter, Erin Whitworth of Tulsa, OK, grandson, Nick Huddleston of Tulsa, OK, brother, Dave and Darleen Shaw, of Buffalo Valley, OK, sister-in-law, Nancy Shaw of Mancos, CO, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and others who loved her dearly.

Her cremation has been entrusted to Moore Funeral Home in Tulsa. A memorial will be held at a later time when her ashes will be buried near her many family members at the Sardis Cemetery on Cemetery Island in Sardis Lake, OK.
