Obituary

Jerry Lee Gibbons, 77, of Tulsa, Oklahoma went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 27th, 2018. Jerry was born on April 15th, 1941 in Bristow, Oklahoma to parents Clyde and Cleo Carr Gibbons, and was later raised in Tulsa where he graduated from Tulsa Central High School in 1959. Soon after high school, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served from 1959 to 1963 where he learned the trade of a draftsman. He had a strong work ethic and was employed for 35 years with Matrix Architects Engineers Planners, Inc., where he was a Master Plumbing Designer, and retired in 2009. Jerry was very proud of his work in which he designed the plumbing on many well-known Tulsa landmarks including Hillcrest Hospital, BOK Arena, Tulsa Fairgrounds Expo Center, and American Airlines, to name a few.
On April 14, 1978, he married the love of his life, Kay Hogue Davis. Together they raised four children and made their home in Inola, Oklahoma and in 2008 moved to Tulsa. Jerry was a faithful member of the Inola United Methodist Church and then later at Asbury United Methodist Church in Tulsa, where he played the piano in Sunday School and church.
Over the years, Jerry enjoyed traveling with his family, cycling, playing the piano, singing, and participating in choral groups including the Tulsa Oratorio Chorus where he once sang at Carnegie Hall.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Cleo Gibbons, his brother Billy Gibbons, and the recent passing of his sister, Nancy Reitz.
Survivors include his wife, Kay of the home, daughters, Cindy Gibbons Dean and friend Joe Benedict of Tulsa and Tracy Gibbons Mootry and husband Jon, and step-sons Kelly Davis and friend Lisa Morris, and Kendall Davis and wife Kelli, all of Inola.
Other survivors include his grandchildren Jerry Hamman, Christopher Hamman and wife Jessica, Kyle Mootry, Kristen Mootry Pate and husband Remington, Savannah Davis and fiance Max Bolhken, Sierra Davis, Megan Davis Stolzfus and husband Keton, Melody Davis Gerard and husband Travis, and Blane Davis and wife Alex. Great grandchildren include ReaLea and Hunter Hamman, Xander Seay and Talma Gerard, niece, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Jerry was a kind-hearted person who impacted many people. He will be missed by all who loved him and whom he loved in return.
Visitation will be 2-5pm, Sunday, June 3rd, 2018 at Moore's Southlawn, 9350 East 51st Street, Tulsa, Oklahoma. Graveside services 10am Sweeten Cemetery-Inola Industrial Boulevard, Inola, Oklahoma Memorial service will be 2pm, Monday, June 4th, 2018 at Asbury United Methodist Church, 6767 South Mingo Road, Tulsa, Oklahoma.
