Jerry Wayne Guthrie was born March 13, 1946 to Joseph and Ople (Graham) Guthrie, in Horatio, Arkansas. Jerry spent his childhood in Mounds, Oklahoma. After graduating from Mounds High School, Jerry worked in the oil fields before joining the U.S. Army in 1964. He served in Germany and the Vietnam War as a Staff Sergeant.
After he returned from Vietnam, he married Bonnie DeBlois in Birdsboro, Pennsylvania in 1970. They moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma, where Jerry was employed at T.D. Williamson as a master machinist.
Jerry had a friendly and outgoing personality and never met a stranger to whom he wouldn't speak. He also had a great love for his family and was known fondly as "Papa" by his grandchildren. He is survived by Bonnie, his wife of 44 years; daughter Christie Lane and husband Jeff; grandchildren Nicole and Jayden Lane; sister Joan (Bill) Durham; brother John Guthrie; half brother Harry Harris; various nieces and nephews. Jerry was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Ople (Graham) Guthrie; two half brothers and two half sisters.
Graveside services will be July 17, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. at Fort Gibson National Cemetery, 1423 Cemetery Rd, Fort Gibson, OK.
