Obituary

Jerry Agate Herzberg passed away at 93 years of age on October 11, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, hard work, and cherished memories. A devoted father, grandfather, veteran, businessman, and friend, Jerry lived a full life marked by dedication, adventure, and an unmistakable sense of humor.

Born and raised in Enid, Oklahoma, Jerry grew up alongside his older brother and developed a love for sports, particularly basketball and ping-pong. He attended Oklahoma State University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in business administration. During his college years, he began his entrepreneurial journey by picking up and delivering students' dry cleaning, a small beginning that reflected the determination and business sense that would shape his life. Jerry served his country in the United States Army serving during the Korean War for 18 months. While stationed in Korea he made a tape recording asking Carole to marry him, instructing his dad to put the ring on her finger if she agreed. They were wed 7 days after he came home. He married Carole, the love of his life, and together they shared 62 years of marriage and raised three children. Their love story began with a memorable first date and continued through years of devotion, laughter, travel, and shared adventures. Though Carole passed away several years ago, her presence remained close to Jerry's heart, and her love continued to surround him.

Jerry built a distinguished career in the insurance industry, beginning with Equitable, where he remained for more than six decades. He eventually transitioned into financial planning and continued serving clients through Herzberg Financial Services alongside his son Wes for 38 years. His commitment to his work and the people he served was a testament to his strong work ethic and enduring passion for what he did.

Jerry also found great joy in the outdoors. He and Carole spent 35 years raising crops and livestock on their farm in Coffeyville, Kansas, where he enjoyed the peace and simplicity of walking through the fields. He loved traveling, exploring the Middle East and Europe, taking cruises, playing golf, and fishing. In his later years, he especially enjoyed monthly dinners with friends, sharing stories and laughter.

Known for his easy smile, generous spirit, and wonderful sense of humor, Jerry always had a story to tell. His quick wit and playful nature brought joy to those around him, and his stories often became treasured memories in their own right. He also had a special love for his Yorkshire Terrier, Molly, who became his constant companion.

Jerry's Christian faith was an important part of his life. He was a longtime member of John Knox Presbyterian Church, where he attended since 1977. His years of connection to the church were a meaningful part of his life and community. As his family and friends remember him, may they find comfort in their faith, in the promise of God's love, and in the hope of eternal life through Jesus Christ.

Jerry's life was a testament to perseverance, devotion, and finding joy in the journey. His legacy lives on through the family he loved, the friendships he treasured, the laughter he shared, and the stories and memories that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him. Though deeply missed, his love and the lasting impression he made will never be forgotten.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carole Herzberg, and his daughter, Linda Herzberg. He is survived by his daughter, Heidi Herzberg Webb, and her husband, Kirby Webb; his son, Wes Herzberg, and his wife, Kelly Herzberg; and his beloved grandchildren, Emily Webb, Natalie Webb, Lindy Herzberg, and Connor Herzberg.

Visitation will be held from 5 pm-7 pm on Thursday, October 15, 2026 at Moore's Southlawn Funeral Home.
